Kate Babington – TREE Managing Director

Kate was born and raised in Hong Kong before returning to the UK to attend University and then to start her career. After successfully finishing a Business and Finance degree at University, Kate subsequently started her career with The Body Shop International.  She worked in many areas of The Body Shop – Marketing, Category Management, Fair Trade and Sourcing, whilst achieving her masters in Marketing on the way.   Kate was posted to Hong Kong on secondment,  to establish The Body Shop’s Far East sourcing base, ensuring that The Body Shop only purchased from suppliers that complied to its ethical standards in addition to being commercially viable.  This involved Kate becoming SA8000 accredited, a certification standard based on the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Convention on the Rights of the Child and various International Labour Organisations conventions. The initial 18 month secondment with The Body Shop lasted 8 years with Kate managing the International, but primarily Far East supplier base, before she decided to leave The Body Shop and agreed to join forces with long time friend Nicole Wakley at TREE .
